Volunteering

We’ve started to set up a learning center to promote natural building to locals and foreigners, using mostly earth and also bamboo and timber. We grow some of our food, organically and make our own compost. We welcome volunteers who wish to help us while having a unique experience in a lovely and peaceful natural environment.

Below is listed the volunteer positions for the coming months (September 2024 to February 2025).

Help needed

Two carpenters

We are looking for volunteers who could be either young carpenters by trade or handymen with experience working with wood. They will help make several wood items and projects necessary to move forward in our ambitious project:

We need someone who can take a little direction from us and then work independently or with a little assistance.

Ideally, we are looking for two volunteers to complete all this within 4 weeks. In reality, we will select some items according to volunteers’ experience and the number of weeks they can stay with us.

In return and to help you to get more experience, you can either:

join one of our natural building workshops in our land (earth or bamboo) for free, during the next 12 months or
learn the basics of earth building by joining our current projects during your time off or days off.

Stay duration: Preferably one month. September 2024 to February 2025
Hours & Roster: 7 hours a day; 3 days off per week

Two bamboo builders

We are looking for volunteers with experience working with bamboo. They will help make small projects such as hut, pergola, carport or prototypes.

We need someone who can take a little direction from us and then work independently or with a little assistance.

Ideally, we are looking for two volunteers available for 3-4 weeks.

In return and to help you to get more experience, you can either:

join one of our natural building workshops in our land (earth or bamboo) for free, during the next 12 months or
learn the basics of earth building by joining our current projects during your time off or days off.

Stay duration: Preferably one month. September 2024 to February 2025
Hours & Roster: 7 hours a day; 3 days off per week

What’s included? Free accommodation in a private tent and all meals.
What’s Not Included? Flights, internal transport, travel health insurance, pocket money, visa
Sleeping: We provide all linen, pillow and mattress

Living situation: You will live in a private tent. We provide all linen, pillow and mattress. We have internet connectivity and electricity.

Eating: Breakfast prepared by us; lunch and dinner either eaten in local restaurants or bought from the local markets. Volunteers having special diet requirements (vegetarian, vegan) may need to prepare their meals for themselves.

We ask all volunteers to refrain from any illegal drug use or excessive drinking in our centre.

Transport: You can get direct flights to Chiang Rai or comfortable direct buses from the main cities. Once you arrive in Chiang-Rai, we will arrange to pick you up at the city and take you to our land. Once we have agreed on working with each other, we would be happy to help you with assistance to ensure that your trip here is easy and convenient.

Things to see and do: Hiking, local festivals, contests and concerts, local markets.
